Complete the 12 units to fulfil the educational requirements for a Queensland real estate salesperson registration certificate. You receive a Statement of Attainment for the units, which you lodge with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading when you apply. The OFT issues the registration certificate, and with it you can work in sales or property management as an employee of a licensed agent.

These are the 12 units of competency the Queensland Office of Fair Trading requires for a real estate salesperson registration certificate. They are drawn from the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice. On completion you receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, which you attach to your OFT registration application.

Next step: The QLD Estate Agents Licence is made up of a combination of units from the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice and the CPP51122 Diploma of Property (Agency Management). Complete those units, then apply for your licence to operate independently and run your own agency.

To get your registration certificate from the Queensland OFT
- Be 18 or older
- Be a suitable person, which includes a criminal history check
- No serious offence in the past 5 years
- Not be currently disqualified from holding a licence or registration
- Hold a visa with work rights if you are not a citizen or permanent resident
- Apply to the Queensland OFT with your Statement of Attainment, certified ID and the application fee

Is this the registration certificate course for Queensland?+–
Yes. This course covers the 12 units the Queensland Office of Fair Trading requires before it will register you as a real estate salesperson. Archer Institute delivers the training and issues your Statement of Attainment. The OFT issues the registration certificate itself once it approves your application.
What do I get when I finish?+–
You receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the 12 units the Queensland Office of Fair Trading requires for a salesperson registration certificate. These units come from the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice.
How do I apply for my registration certificate after the course?+–
You apply to the Queensland Office of Fair Trading, attaching your Statement of Attainment and certified proof of identity, and paying the application fee. The OFT sends your application to the Queensland Police Service for a criminal history check. Our team can point you to the next steps.
How long do I have to finish?+–
You have up to 12 months of access and most students finish sooner. It is self-paced, so you study at a pace that suits you with 24/7 access to the student portal.
Do I need experience to start?+–
No. The course is open access and designed for people new to real estate in Queensland.
Is it a salesperson licence or a registration certificate?+–
A registration certificate. Queensland registers salespeople and licenses agents. A registered salesperson works as an employee of a licensed real estate agent and cannot work as a contractor. The full licence is a separate credential with its own OFT application and its own course, the QLD Estate Agents Licence.
Can I work on my own once I am registered?+–
No. A registered salesperson works as an employee under a licensed real estate agent. To operate independently, run your own agency or handle a trust account, you upgrade to the QLD Estate Agents Licence.
Is this recognised by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading?+–
Yes. The units are nationally recognised and meet the education requirement for a real estate salesperson registration certificate in Queensland.
What does the registration certificate cost in total?+–
The Archer course fee is $540, one-off. The OFT charges its own application fee for the registration certificate, and a criminal history check fee may apply. OFT fees change each 1 July, so check the current amounts on the OFT website or in our guide to what a QLD real estate licence or registration costs before you apply.
