Real estate CPD requirements by state
Requirements differ by state, and so does the way Archer delivers CPD. Here is the same information side by side, with the price and the course for each state.
Queensland

- Two CPD sessions in each CPD year, which runs for 12 months from the anniversary of your licence or registration issue date. Both may be Type 1 sessions. A first-year exemption may apply, and the Queensland Office of Fair Trading sets your dates.

New South Wales

Real Estate CPD FAQs
What is CPD and why is it mandatory?+–
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It is structured annual training set by state licensing authorities to keep real estate professionals current with industry changes, legislative updates and compliance obligations. In most states, not completing your required CPD can mean your licence is not renewed.
How much CPD do I need each year?+–
It depends on your state and licence type. The ACT requires 12 CPD points per year. Queensland requires two CPD sessions in each CPD year, which runs from the anniversary of your licence or registration issue date. NSW sets an annual requirement across defined categories that differ by licence class. If you are unsure what applies to you, get in touch and we will confirm.
Can I complete my CPD online?+–
Yes, all Archer Institute CPD is delivered online. Queensland and ACT CPD are self-paced, so you access them from any device at any time. NSW CPD runs as live, interactive online sessions for your licence category, so you book sessions rather than studying self-paced. Either way, finish before your state deadline.
Is real estate CPD nationally recognised training?+–
No. CPD is professional development rather than a nationally recognised qualification, so you receive a completion certificate for your CPD records, never a Statement of Attainment. It is delivered by Archer Institute, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45020).
What happens if I do not complete my CPD?+–
Consequences vary by state, but in most cases non-completion means your licence cannot be renewed. A lapsed licence means you are no longer authorised to conduct real estate activities. If you are behind, get in touch and we will help you sort it.

When does my CPD need to be completed by?+–
Deadlines are set by each state authority and are usually linked to your licence renewal date or a set annual date. In Queensland the CPD year runs from the anniversary of your licence or registration issue date, and our QLD CPD year calculator works out the window.
