How real estate licensing works in Queensland
Queensland registers salespeople and licenses agents, and the Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) issues both. Archer delivers the training the OFT requires. Here is the path from first enquiry to working agent.

Choose your level
A registration certificate lets you work as a salesperson employed by a licensed agent, in sales or property management. The full agent licence lets you operate independently, run an agency and hold a trust account, and it is the licence you need if you want to work as a contractor. Many people start with registration and upgrade later, and the 19 licence units include the 12 registration units.

Complete the units online
Archer delivers the exact units the OFT requires for each level: 12 for registration and 19 for the full licence. Every unit is online and self-paced, with 24/7 access to the student portal, assessor feedback on your work and a real person on the phone when you have a question. You have up to 12 months of access and most students finish sooner.

Apply to the OFT
When you finish you receive a Statement of Attainment for the units. You lodge it with the OFT along with certified proof of identity and the application fee, and the OFT sends your application to the Queensland Police Service for a criminal history check. The OFT issues the registration certificate or licence. OFT fees change each 1 July, so check the current amounts before you apply.

Keep it current with CPD
Once you hold a registration certificate or licence, Queensland requires two CPD sessions in each CPD year. Archer delivers both as OFT-approved Type 1 sessions, Market Property and Trust Accounts, $100 each. A first-year exemption may apply, and the OFT sets your dates, so work out when your CPD year runs before you enrol.

A registration certificate is what lets an agency employ you as a salesperson, and Brisbane’s agencies, from franchise networks to independents, work the same way. Start with the 12 units, apply to the OFT, and the full licence is there when you are ready to go out on your own.
Gold Coast
Sales and property management sit side by side on the Gold Coast. The registration certificate covers both kinds of work under a licensed agent, so one course fits either path, and the full licence is the step up when you want to run the office.
Sunshine Coast
From Caloundra to Noosa the requirement is the same: complete the 12 units, register with the OFT, work under a licensed agent, and upgrade to the full licence when you want your own agency.
Ipswich, Logan and Moreton Bay
The corridors around Brisbane have the same requirement as the city. Study around shifts or a current job, with 24/7 access to the portal, then apply to the OFT once your Statement of Attainment is issued.
Toowoomba and the Darling Downs
Residential and rural property overlap here, and the same two levels apply to property sales in both: registration to work under a licensed agent, and the full licence to operate independently.
Townsville and Cairns
North Queensland is a long way from the capital, and the course is online wherever you are. Study on your own schedule, with support by phone, and apply to the OFT the same way an agent in Brisbane does.
Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone
Central Queensland has the same two levels: registration to work under a licensed agent, and the full licence to operate independently. Both are online and both finish with an application to the OFT.
Bundaberg and Hervey Bay
The Wide Bay follows the same path as the rest of the state. Complete the units online, lodge your Statement of Attainment with the OFT, and add your two CPD sessions in each CPD year once you are registered or licensed.

What real estate licence do I need in QLD?+–

Are the Queensland registration and licence courses nationally recognised?+–
The registration and licence courses are made up of nationally recognised units of competency, and you receive a Statement of Attainment for them that meets the education requirement set by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading. Archer Institute is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45020). CPD is professional development rather than nationally recognised training, so it comes with a completion certificate.
Can I study while working full-time?+–

What happens after I finish?+–
