Your first step in each state

Each state has its own licensing structure. Here is the entry-level qualification you need and what it lets you do.

Your first step is the Queensland Registration Certificate. It lets you work as a salesperson under a licensed agent. Complete 12 units, apply to the Queensland Government, and you can begin working.

New South Wales

Class 3 Assistant Agent

Start with the Certificate of Registration. It lets you work as an assistant agent under a licensed principal. Complete 5 units, apply to NSW Fair Trading, and you are ready to begin.

Victoria

Agent's Representative

The Agent's Representative qualification (CPP41419 Certificate IV) is your entry point in Victoria. Complete it, apply to Consumer Affairs Victoria, and you can work under a licensed estate agent.

Australian Capital Territory

Class 3 Assistant Agent

Begin with the ACT Certificate of Registration. It lets you work as an assistant agent under a licensed principal. Complete 5 units, apply to ACT Access Canberra, and you are ready to start.

Common questions

Starting Out FAQs

What qualification do I need to start working in real estate?+

It depends on your state. In QLD you need the Real Estate Salesperson certificate. In NSW and ACT you need a Class 3 Assistant Agent Certificate of Registration. In VIC you need the Agent's Representative qualification (Certificate IV). Get in touch and we will confirm exactly what you need.

Do I need prior real estate experience to enrol?+

No. Entry-level courses are built for people with no prior real estate experience. The course teaches you what you need to get started. You will need to meet basic literacy requirements and hold valid ID, but there are no industry prerequisites for entry-level enrolment.

How long does an entry-level course take?+

Most students complete entry-level courses in a few weeks to a couple of months of self-paced study. Because courses are fully online and self-paced, the timeline depends on the hours you can dedicate each week. There is no fixed deadline.

Can I study while working full-time?+

Yes. That is how most of our students study. Courses are 100% online and accessible 24/7, so you can study in the evenings, on weekends or whenever suits you. There are no live classes or mandatory sessions.

What happens after I finish my course?+

Once you complete and pass your assessments, Archer Institute issues your qualification. You then apply to your state licensing authority for your registration or licence. Once approved, you can begin working in real estate, and our team can guide you through the application.

What if I need help with an assessment?+

Our Australian-based support team is available throughout your course. If you are stuck on an assessment or have a question about the material, reach out. We respond quickly and our team understands the real estate industry.
